T-SHIRTS

  BASIC    SOFT     TRENDY

Let's Talk About This American Icon!

In 1995 when the JCMCo. was founded it was common place for a customer to order T-shirts by just telling us how many adult X-Large shirts they wanted. Back then everyone purchased a 50-50 tee in one commonly ordered size, out of maybe a 20 color choice selection. Not anymore!! Now the fabric selection, the overwelming color library, the style choices and fit possibilities all determine what today's customers want when they buy their T-shirts. Here is a quick look at T-shirts today.

Let's Talk T-Shirts!

The History of the T-SHIRT

The T-shirt was commissioned by the US Navy in 1913 for their midshipman. The orginal style T-shirt was a crew-neck design with short hemmed sleeves, made of 100% white cotton with a tubuler body design. The seamen would wear it under their uniforms. Later it became common for sailors just to wear these T-shirts as they worked on the US submarines or when stationed in tropical climates. The T-shirt was easily fitted, easily cleaned, and inexpensive, and for those reasons it soon became the shirt of choice for many regular Americans. They worn it either as an undergarment and as a work shirt during the 1900's. The American Depression solidified it's wearable as an inexpensive shirt for normal wear. Who knew an imprinted T-shirt would become the way the world communicates their businesses, ideas, events and expressions in the 20th century!

Let's Talk T-Shirt Basics!

100% COTTON TEES

The 100% cotton, 3.7 oz. T-shirt was the orginal model! T-shirts made from all cotton are still very popular today.  However, the refining process of the cotton has become more sophicated offering pre-strunk capabilities. The old days when your T-shirt would shrunk a whole size when washed and dried are gone. Pre-strunk cotton garments now stay true to their sizing proportions. The addition of "Rung Spun Cotton" during manufacturing has added the softness today's consumers want in their basic tees.

50-50 T-SHIRTS

A T-shirt made of 50% cotton + 50% polyester fabric is a proven winner for comfort + wearability. This blend of fabrics allow for the comfort of cotton that people want in their garments, and also, has the wrinkle free style needed for daily wear. The 50-50 T-shirts offer the same colors, styles + fabric weight as their 100% counter-parts, giving buyers a wide choice of options.

TRENDY + SOFT T-SHIRTS

The Soft + Trendy tees in some respects have gone backwards in terms of fabric weight + sizing to the orginal designed T-shirt. The new Trendy Tees are about 4.5 oz. of 100% rung-spun cotton offering a slimmer fit and a remarkable softness today's consumers wants in their fashion tees. The introduction of the new "heather" colors adds to the vintage look and feel of yesterday's T-shirts.
